Where to stay in Torres del Paine: four zones

The park has no single place to sleep. Accommodation sits in separate zones, and some of them can only be reached on foot or by boat. Choose by what you plan to do, not by the nicest photo.

Lodges and hotels are on the road and lake side, around Lago Pehoé and in the southern Grey area. Mountain refugios and camps lie along the W and O trails in the west and north. The eastern zone around Central and Chileno is the Las Torres side. At the southern edge, near Villa Serrano, there is a fourth group of places. Outside the park, Puerto Natales is the town base for day trips and for the nights before and after a trek.

If you have only a day or two, a base in town with a bus or tour each morning is the simplest option; see Torres del Paine day tours from Puerto Natales. Hotel rates vary by season and are not listed here, so check them for your dates.

Refugios and camping: what you get

A refugio is not a hotel room. Expect simple facilities.

Beds and bedding

Mountain refugios offer shared rooms with bunk beds. You can take a basic bed or add bedding. A refugio is not a promise of a private room.

Camping

You can camp with your own gear or rent a tent and equipment. Camp only on approved sites. A free tent night on the trail or at a viewpoint is not allowed.

Food and power

The sectors of Paine Grande, Grey and Dickson have a restaurant and a bar, and Los Perros does not. Cooking areas exist, power is available at times and the wifi is paid. There is no open fire; stoves are allowed only in permitted cooking areas.

Operators

The sectors Paine Grande, Grey, Los Perros and Dickson are run by one operator. The Las Torres sector, with Central, Chileno and Serón, is run by another, and Camping Francés is booked through the Las Torres operator.

One price example for 2026/27 at Camping Francés: your own pitch with two people sharing starts at USD 50 per person from November to March and USD 40 in October and April. A single person pays from USD 90 and USD 70. A fully equipped tent for two starts at USD 160 per person in the high months and USD 150 in October and April. Half board is USD 90 and full board USD 140 per person; at Christmas and New Year it is USD 140 and USD 190. This is one camp, not a park-wide price list.

More detail is on the page for refugios and camping.

What to reserve before you go

Booking works in three separate parts.

Mountain nights

Reservations in the mountain refugios and camps on the W and O are required, and you cannot enter the area without them. Reserve before you buy the rest.

Park ticket

The park ticket does not include the nights. You buy it online at least 24 hours before entry. See the entrance fee.

Transport

Buses and the catamaran are booked separately from beds. Some mountain accommodation can only be reached on foot or by the boat link, so it is not a hotel for a rental car. See how to get to Torres del Paine.

Walk-in beds

Do not count on a free bed or pitch when you arrive without a booking. The road and edge campsites follow different rules than the mountain ones, but that is not a guarantee of space either.

Where to stay in Torres del Paine: frequently asked questions

Should I stay in the park or in Puerto Natales?

For day trips, Puerto Natales is the simplest base. For a W or O trek you sleep in the park, in mountain refugios or camps that you must reserve before you enter.

Are there hotels in Torres del Paine?

Yes. Lodges and hotels are on the road and lake side, for example around Lago Pehoé and the southern Grey area. Check rates for your dates, since they vary by season.

What is a refugio?

A refugio is a mountain lodging with shared rooms, basic beds or bedding and a common dining area. It is not a hotel room and does not promise privacy.

Can I camp anywhere in the park?

No. You camp only on approved sites. Free camping on the trail or at a viewpoint is not allowed, and open fires are banned.

Do I need a reservation for the W Trek?

Yes, for the mountain nights. Without these reservations you cannot enter the corresponding mountain area, and the park ticket does not replace them.

Is this the official accommodation site of the park?

No. This is an independent travel guide and does not run any accommodation. It is not run by CONAF, the park administration or the operators of the refugios.
