Torres del Paine itinerary: three ways to spend your time

These are suggested plans built from the parts the park offers: a full-day road route, a separate day hike to Base Las Torres and a boat trip to the Grey Glacier. None of them is guaranteed to work on your dates. Weather, boat seats and mountain beds decide what you really do.

The plans start from Puerto Natales. If you sleep in El Calafate, see the El Calafate day tour instead. For the long trek, the O Circuit takes 8 to 10 days and does not fit these plans.

1 day: the road route from Puerto Natales

The easiest day, and the one with the least planning.

What it covers

A full-day tour runs from 08:30 to 19:00, about 10.5 hours. Stops include the Puerto Natales waterfront, Cueva del Milodón, Lago Grey, Lago Pehoé, Salto Grande, Lago Nordenskjöld and Laguna Amarga.

The Salto Grande waterfall

What it does not cover

This day does not include a full Base Las Torres hike, a Grey boat trip or the walk to Mirador Británico. Park entry and Milodón entry cost extra.

What it costs

The tour costs CLP 55,000 or CLP 65,000, depending on the date (2026). Check the current price before you book.

3 days: separate days for road, towers and glacier

Each day has one aim, so one bad-weather day does not ruin the trip.

Day 1: the road route

Take the full-day road tour above. It gives you the lakes, the waterfall and the first long views of the mountains.

Day 2: Base Las Torres

The hike to the towers takes about 8 hours of walking. Entry to the trail closes at 09:00 or 09:30 and the exit is at 15:00, so start early. A transfer from Laguna Amarga to the Welcome Center covers 7 km in 25 minutes and costs CLP 4,500 each way. That fare is a transfer, not a trail fee.

Day 3: Grey Glacier by boat

Boat trips run from 1 October 2026 to 30 April 2027. The round trip takes about 2 hours 45 minutes, with check-in one hour before. Adult round trip is CLP 120,000 and child round trip CLP 60,000. Children up to 4 years 11 months go free. The walk from the beach takes 30 to 45 minutes, and the trip is not suited to guests who need walking aids or to strollers. A plain one-way transfer is not a full glacier cruise.

A multi-day park pass, valid for 2 to 10 consecutive days since 1 May 2026, costs adult foreign visitors less than separate day passes. Buy it online at least 24 hours before you enter.

5 days: the W Trek

Only if the nights are confirmed first.

What the W is

The W covers Grey, the Valle del Francés and Base Las Torres in 3 to 5 days. Five days leaves time for the lookouts and a spare day. Walking is at your own pace, but the nights are fixed.

The Paine Grande refugio

Reserve every night

Reservations in the mountain refugios and campings are required. Without them you do not get into the area, and your park ticket does not replace the nights. Report to the ranger station on arrival. Winter conditions require a specialized guide.

Refugios and camping →

A suggested order

Spend one or two days in the Valle del Francés, a day on the Grey side and a day on the way to Base Las Torres. Stage times help you pace it: Paine Grande to Italiano is 7.5 km and 2.5 hours, and Italiano to Mirador Británico is 5.4 km and 3 hours. These are single stages, not a round trip. Direction, bus and boat times and the nights you can reserve decide the real order.

The W Trek →

Crossing Lago Pehoé

The catamaran between Pudeto and Paine Grande takes about 30 minutes and costs around CLP 28,000 per person each way (2026/27). Check the current timetable before you go, because wind can cancel a crossing.

Lago Pehoé →

The three plans compared

Costs are 2026 amounts and do not include the park ticket.

PlanDaysWhat you doCosts to expect
Road tour1Lakes, waterfall and viewpoints on a 10.5 hour dayCLP 55,000 or 65,000 plus park and Milodón entry
Road, towers, glacier3One aim per day, boat seats and weather permittingAdult Grey round trip CLP 120,000, transfer CLP 4,500 each way
W Trek5Grey, Valle del Francés and Base Las Torres on footReserved nights, and Pehoé catamaran around CLP 28,000 each way

For most first-time visitors with limited time, the 3-day plan fits well: it shows the main sights without a night in the mountains. Choose the W only when your nights are already confirmed.

Torres del Paine itinerary: frequently asked questions

Can I see Torres del Paine in one day?

Yes, on a full-day road tour of about 10.5 hours from Puerto Natales. It covers lakes, the waterfall and viewpoints, but not a full Base Las Torres hike or a Grey boat trip.

How many days do I need?

Three days let you do the road route, the towers hike and a Grey boat trip on separate days. The W Trek needs 3 to 5 days with reserved nights.

Can I do the W Trek in five days without reservations?

No. Reservations in the mountain refugios and campings are required, and without them you cannot enter that area. Confirm your nights first.

Does a multi-day ticket save money?

A multi-day pass for 2 to 10 consecutive days costs adult foreign visitors less than separate day passes for several days. Buy online at least 24 hours before entry.

Can I fit the O Circuit into these plans?

No. The O takes 8 to 10 days. It has been closed since May, at least until 31 October 2026, and reopening depends on weather and safety.

Is this website the official park site?

No. This is an independent travel guide. For current rules, tickets and trail status, check the park administration before you go.
